CAMBODIAN COMMUNITIES IN AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND.

Auckland is near the tip of New Zealand, there are about three Thousand Cambodian New Zealanders living here. Most of them came here in the 80s, during the high exodus of refugees from Cambodia. A few who made it here in the 90s, either came here under the family reunification act or are married to Kiwi's. These days, Immigrants who come to New Zealand, get no financial support from the government for the first two years, so you just have to work hard.

In recent years, there are more Cambodian overseas students studying here.

There are many Cambodian Communities in Auckland city:

The Cambodian Association. helps Cambodian people with social needs

Cambodian Association Radio

Every Saturday - 6:45pm to 7:30pm
Planet FM104.6 FM

They are responsible for many Cambodian traditional ceremonies - Khmer New Year, Pchum Ben, International New Year, and welcoming distinguished and Important people from Cambodia, ...etc, and  there are other things that the Cambodian Association does for us here. Now the association has their own pagoda named Wat Oudom Samagom Khmer in Papatoetoe, South Auckland.

The Buddhist Association Inc.

The Buddhist association, is there to help people spiritually for their next life, as well as to take care of the Cambodian Community in this one.

If you need to borrow chairs, plates, spoons, forks, or are in need of urgent food, then I would recommend you to this pagoda.

In Vietnam, as I am told by the group, Cambodian village life and Khmer characters are retained well, in spite of the up and down oppression against them.

They have a Buddhist pagoda in Papatoetoe, South Auckland named Sovarnmonysakhorkhmerkrom

Kung Luck Association.(Cambodian Chinese Association)
